Quest for the Perfect Keyboard [Part 2]: Logitech Illuminated Thin Keyboard K740

I don't remember what keyboard I had in the office those first years at Microsoft. I didn't care about keyboards or chairs until my body began to hurt from years of typing on a computer. I think it was one of Microsoft's ergonomic ones.

But at home I wanted a new keyboard and the cool kids had an illuminated keyboard! Without much research I bought the Logitech Illuminated Thin Keyboard K740 at BestBuy. This thing looked so slick that I felt I was coding the future (instead of just boring automated test cases for ASP.NET, but I digress).

This keyboard was solid and this time I cleaned it so it still works. The keys are so soft that it feels like typing on a laptop. It also has a lot of multimedia options.

It went with me when I moved to Australia and back again. I probably would have kept it until it fell apart but one day I decided to learn to properly touch type. For years I coded with basically 7 fingers moving all over the keyboard. I miss-type keys so often that my coworkers commented that I moved backwards (hit backspace) more often than I moved forward.

I wanted to type better and stop straining my fingers from jumping all over place. So I took typing lessons. After many sessions I began to get accustomed to touch type, but I also really liked the practice keyboard that they had. It was a mechanical keyboard and now I wanted one.
