Quest for the Perfect Keyboard [Part 1]: Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000

Thanks to my father there had been computers in my house since I was a child, both Macintosh and PC, as well as a laptop for school. But it wasn't until my last year of college that I was able to buy my own computer and my first keyboard: the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000.

This keyboard was amazing at the time and it never failed. The thing lasted for years. Unfortunately I never cleaned it and eventually dirt, dead skin and hair piled up and some keys began to get stuck. That and the wrist support got all nasty. Always clean your keyboard folks!

Anyhow, after college I got a job at Microsoft and moved from Mexico to Seattle. It was time to upgrade.

And so begins the journey through keyboards, money spent and a fair share of failures. Over the course of 15 years I learned what features matter to me and the models that have best fit so far.
